How to Write SEO-Friendly Copy for Your Website

Search engine copywriting is an extremely important part of the overall search engine optimization process. However, most of the unprofessional writers end up stuffing keywords in a manner that make your page look stupid and visitors are forced to jump to another website.

The most important aspect of effective SEO friendly copy writing is to write in natural language. It means that the copy should flow as if it were not written with the search engines in mind. Even, the visitor should not be able to recognize what keyphrases the page is being optimized for. The first and foremost thing should be that the content makes sense for your site visitors. The best way of doing is to write copy without thinking of the website or search engines and then rewrite to make it SEO friendly.

Though the length of your copy depends on several factors including product or service you offer, target audience, site design etc., it is recommended to have minimum 250 word copy per page. Because, this would not only give enough room to get your message across but also offer an effective level of keyword support. If you think or have researched that your target audience demand longer copy, write longer copy. If they like shorter copy, write shorter copy. Similarly, there could be products which may require extensive information.

Use keyword phrases in headlines and sub-headlines. This helps not only your visitor to know what the page is all about but also search engine friendly. If it makes sense use keyword phrases once or twice per paragraph. Wherever possible use keyword phrases in bold, italic or bulleted lists.

Include keywords in anchor text within body copy or in text navigation links to score a little extra in search engine rankings. Provide keyword phrases or keywords to the web designers so that they may use them as alt text for images.
